At BubbaDesk, we want to do more than reassure you — we want to show you exactly how we operate, who we hire, and the systems we have in place to protect the wellbeing of your child.

This isn’t just professional for us — it’s personal. Our team is made up of women, many of whom are mothers themselves. We’ve built the type of place we want for our own children.

How We Hire: A Four-Step Process

1. CV Screening
We carefully review every CV. If we spot a pattern of moving frequently between centres, we investigate. Consistency and reliability matter.

2. Three-Stage Interview Process

    • Initial Interview: We assess qualifications, experience, and — most importantly — their tone, energy, and passion for working with children.

    • Second Interview: Focused on cultural fit and how they respond to real-world scenarios (e.g. settling a distressed child, communicating with parents).

    • Final Interview: Conducted by our Founder & CEO to ensure alignment with BubbaDesk’s values and philosophy of calm, connected, and respectful care.

3. Independent Reference Checks
We independently reach out to previous employers and contacts to gather honest, unfiltered feedback about their performance, reliability, and demeanour with children.

4. Trial Day in a Live Setting

Before any hire is final, each candidate completes a trial day at one of our live BubbaDesk locations.
Our team carefully observes:

  • How they interact with children: Are they gentle, attuned, and respectful?

  • How they communicate with parents: Are they warm, confident, and clear?

  • How they engage with our team: Are they collaborative, calm, and aligned?

If there is any doubt about fit — especially around tone or energy — they are not invited back.

Safety, Transparency & Daily Operations

1. Always More Than One Carer Present

There is never a moment when a team member is alone in a room with children.
We operate in open, transparent-view environments where team members support one another and all areas are visible.

2. Full Transparency with Parents

Our proximity-based model means you are working just steps away from your child. You’re never out of reach.
You can:

  • Walk into the children’s space at any time

  • View the nappy change area, which is always in full view

  • Access live sleep room cameras throughout the day via our app

3. Parent-Managed Toileting

For children who are toilet trained, all toileting is handled directly by parents.
This ensures privacy and keeps you in control of this personal stage of care.

4. Immediate Feedback Culture

We’ve built a culture where our team is empowered to speak up the moment something doesn’t feel right.
If there’s a question around someone’s tone, behaviour, or fit — action is taken immediately.

Ongoing Training, Communication & Oversight

Because your child deserves better than just okay care.

1. Regular Team Training
  • All team members are certified in First Aid, CPR, and child protection

  • We conduct regular professional development on:

    • Child safety

    • Emotional development

    • Safe sleep practices

    • Parent communication

2. Clear Incident Protocol

We have a documented process for logging, escalating, and responding to:

  • Incidents

  • Concerns

  • Near-misses

If anything occurs — even minor — parents are informed immediately, and our leadership team reviews the situation for accountability and learning.

3. Secure Access Controls

All BubbaDesk locations have strict entry protocols:

    • Only approved members and staff can enter

    • Visitors are never allowed unsupervised access to children

    • You always know exactly who is on site

4. Visual Familiarity & Orientation

Before your child starts at BubbaDesk, you’ll be encouraged to:

  • Spend time in the space

  • Meet the carers

  • Help your child become familiar with the environment
    We want your child — and you — to feel confident from day one.

5. Daily Updates & Open Communication

We don’t do long admin reports — we do real-time connection.

  • Morning handovers

  • Casual check-ins throughout the day

  • Questions always welcome
    Our team is approachable and responsive — communication goes both ways.

6. Parent Feedback Loops

We actively seek and act on feedback — not just annually, but throughout the term.
If you notice something that can be improved, we’re here to listen and respond. Your voice helps us grow stronger.

7. Emotional Safety Matters

We don’t just care about physical safety — we prioritise your child’s emotional wellbeing.
